Geniuses were using the stimulating ways instinctively. And it is unnecessary to mention that some geniuses drank alcohol to stimulate their creative work. Socrates, Seneca and some others abused alcohol so much that some of them even had alcoholic addiction.

Unrecognized geniuses

Of course there are geniuses that became famous and were honoured if not during their lives then after their deaths. But at the same time there are a lot of geniuses that showing their abilities were soon forgotten and nowadays they are remembered episodically speaking about untypical gifted people.

For example, Zera Colbert lost his extraordinary mathematical abilities when he was ten however they are remembered till nowadays. Having no mathematical education he was performing his abilities being only six years old. Not thinking the complicated tasks over, he did sums not spending more than a few second and always did everything in his mind. Later his father took him to the greatest mathematicians where he was tested. He gave answers even faster than the typist could record the questions and he did it so rapidly that typist asked him to do that slower. It is difficult to explain the reason but in two years of working with the greatest mathematicians he lost his abilities. Becoming adult he tried to count using the paper but he failed.

Another famous child prodigy was Jorge Bidder that showed his mathematical abilities at the age of four when he even didn't know how to write numerals. Unlike Zera he soon became the famous engineer in England. He was one of initiators of the London telegraph system creation. With the lapse of time his talent developed a lot and he was similar to Ampere in his professional level.
